Counsilman-Hunsaker was commissioned by the historic 92nd Street YM-YWHA to provide a swimming pool audit for the indoor lap pool located on the third floor and two indoor spas within the same natatorium. The facility, located on the upper east side in Manhattan, was originally constructed in 1929. The purpose of the audit was to evaluate the existing pool and spas, their mechanical systems, and to provide an opinion of probable cost for items identified in need of maintenance or repair in the near future. Counsilman-Hunsaker met with pertinent staff that provided history and background in preparation of the evaluation. The report relied not only on visual observations but also a combination of estimated data provided by those intimate with operations of the facility. As part of the analysis, Counsilman-Hunsaker was also tasked with evaluating the feasibility of replacing one of the warm water spas with a swim-in-place packaged pool unit.
