Gould Evans Architects and HOK Sport, authorized by Arizona State University, commissioned Counsilman-Hunsaker to provide a swimming pool audit in October of 2006. The swimming pools at the University, located in the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center, were constructed in 1981. Improvements have been made to the pools and mechanical systems over the years with the most significant renovation in 1996. In 1996, changes were made to the pool finish, filtration and recirculation system. The chemical system was renovated in 2004.
Since then, repairs/replacements have been made on an as-needed basis. Gould Evans Architects and HOK Sport commissioned the audit to assist in identifying items that are substandard or not operating as designed. The purpose of the audit was to evaluate the existing three (3) bodies of water with an evaluation of their respective mechanical systems, and to provide an opinion of probable cost for items identified. Counsilman-Hunsaker presented several options for consideration for long-term planning for aquatics at the university. Each option included an opinion of probable cost associated with the respective repair/replace/renovate options.
