Bloomsburg University – Nelson Field House

Bloomsburg, PA

VIEW ALL PROJECTS

The Nelson Field House, located on Bloomsburg University's upper campus, serves as home for most of the university's indoor athletic events. The facility has all the necessary components as it holds a six lane, 25-yard pool, a 2,000-seat arena for all home basketball and wrestling events, an indoor track, two tennis courts, and two handball/racquetball courts. The building also has classrooms and offices for use by the health/physical education and athletic staffs.

The Bloomsburg University Nelson Field House Pool, constructed in 1972, plays host to all home varsity swimming and club water polo competitions.  After approximately 35 years, the pool was re-tiled and waterproofed.  Unfortunately, the pool finish soon experienced significant failures such as buckling and delamination

In 2012, Counsilman-Hunsaker was retained to provide aquatic design and engineering services for the removal of the failed waterproofing and finish work, preparation of the substrate, and proper installation of new setting bed materials and ceramic tile finish.
