Counsilman-Hunsaker was commissioned to conduct an audit of the city's aquatic facilities to identify substandard or underperforming elements and recommend repairs or replacements to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for pool users. In collaboration with FGM architects, the evaluation focused on the existing indoor and outdoor pools, including mechanical systems, while considering current aquatic programming and future needs. The Indoor Civic Center lap and leisure pool, initially designed in 1994 and likely constructed in 1995/96, has seen only minor repairs over its 38+ years. The outdoor leisure pool and lazy river were added in 2010, and the outdoor spray pad was completed in 2015.
The audit report resulted in updates to the outdoor leisure pool and the lazy river. Upgrades include a new waterslide complex with two new open flume slides and an additional third slide that utilizes a runout system mounted to the pool deck, allowing riders to exit the slide directly onto the pool deck. Additional upgrades include a new water play structure in the zero entry area of the leisure pool. New depth markers and ADA pool lifts were added to the lazy river and the leisure pool.
