The Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) evaluated options for their existing 1954 aquatic facility at Garden Grove High School. The pool had only minor improvements over the years and GGUSD commissioned Counsilman-Hunsaker to perform a Facility Audit to evaluate the costs involved to upgrade the pool and its operational equipment. The audit provided a thorough evaluation of the mechanical systems, a cost assessment for adding aquatic features to the existing pool, cost evaluation for construction of an additional pool, and financial analysis for increasing the pool's depth.
Following careful decision making, the district contracted with Counsilman-Hunsaker to provide detailed construction documents for a swimming pool and mechanical system replacement in March of 2009.
The newly rehabilitated facility includes a 25-yard x 25-meter competition pool, score board and timing systems and spectator seating for interscholastic high school competition, community use and municipal summer lesson programming.
