Project Location

Grand Prairie, City of

Grand Prairie, TX

The city’s three outdoor swimming pools and one indoor pool were built between 1955 and 1978. The conditions of the pools are not unusual for pools of this age, including failing/inadequate equipment and amenities that do not meet the wants and needs of the community. With many lakes in the Grand Prairie vicinity, community swim lessons are vital as well as other aquatic lessons and programs.

Counsilman-Hunsaker teamed with Brinkley Sargent Architects and developed concepts for the city’s consideration, including drawings, descriptions, cost tables, and pro forma based on each option to help the city determine direction for its future aquatic portfolio.

Aquatic Design & Engineering

In 2008, Counsilman-Hunsaker was retained as the lead aquatics consultant a new senior center called The Summit.  Aquatic amenities include a 3,500 sq. ft. recreation pool used for lap swimming and therapeutic classes, and a 250 sq. ft. whirlpool spa.
