The Hampden Township Pool has been a cherished summer destination for over five decades, providing a safe and refreshing retreat for families and the broader community. Following the recent completion of the Hampden Township Pool Renovation project, the facility has been revitalized with exciting upgrades that enhance its recreational appeal while preserving its legacy for future generations.
Initially constructed in 1971, the renovation uncovered several unique challenges, particularly once the pool gutter was removed and the hidden infrastructure came to light. Crews discovered original piping and multiple abandoned piping and electrical lines from past upgrades, which required careful excavation and coordination for the new piping that was to be installed. Working within the limited space of the existing mechanical building also demanded thoughtful planning and creative problem-solving to ensure modern systems could be integrated appropriately within the existing space.
Despite these hurdles, the project successfully delivered key infrastructure enhancements, including a complete gutter replacement, the addition of a code-compliant surge tank, and a total pool mechanical system replacement, including all the underground piping systems. Additionally, infrastructure was put in place to plan for future upgrades to the pool, such as a lazy river addition and a zero-entry expansion once funds become available. With these improvements, Hampden Township Pool is poised to offer the community a fun and relaxing experience, creating lasting memories for years to come for swimmers of all ages.
