City of Columbia, Missouri and Columbia School District commissioned the team of DLR Group and Counsilman-Hunsaker to provide a swimming pool audit in April, 2007, for the swimming pool located at Hickman High School.
The Park and Recreation Department and School District currently share responsibilities of the pool. The 43-year-old L-shaped pool consists of six 25-yard course lanes and six 25-meter course lanes.
The purpose of the audit was to identify items that were substandard, not meeting current Department of Health requirements, or not operating as designed.
In addition to the evaluation, an opinion of probable cost for recommended repairs was provided. The consulting team presented several options for consideration with each option including an opinion of probable costs.
With the information presented, the city decided to repair the current pool, and a UV system was installed to help reduce chloramines which had been a chronic problem at the facility.
