The Irmo-Chapin Recreation Commission retained Counsilman Hunsaker to research a family aquatic recreation concept and to provide information that will help in making an educated decision on how best to proceed regarding the construction of an aquatic center. The purpose of this Facility Impact Study was to provide a preparatory, comprehensive analysis focusing on a potential aquatics facility for the recreation district and the surrounding area.
The Consultants gathered viable information through discussions, research and interviews with the commissioners, recreation commission staff, and focus groups with community members. It was determined that the recreation district desire a family-oriented outdoor seasonal waterpark for all ages to enjoy, and an indoor competition pool and therapy pool that would be available for use year-round.
