JCC of Greater Washington commissioned Counsilman-Hunsaker to provide a swimming pool audit for the indoor competition pool, the outdoor main pool and outdoor wading pool. The audit included a visual inspection of the current conditions of the pools (including pool finishes, deck areas, gutter and filtration systems, pool water heating equipment, chemical feed and control systems, and piping and recirculation systems) and identified design or equipment deficiencies. Team members also made determinations about the facility's ability to meet ADA requirements, state health standards, and general safety regulations. The final report detailed recommendations on modifications, system upgrading and replacement of equipment based on current technology and existing codes. Modifications to improve the safety and operational effectiveness of the filtration and hydraulic systems, as well as the pool’s chemical adjustment systems, were also recommended.
After the audit phase, Counsilman-Hunsaker was retained to help develop a concept rendering. This rendering was subsequently used for capital fundraising efforts in anticipation of enabling the project to proceed into the construction document phase.
