Kansas City Aquatic Facilities (Audits and Study)

Kansas City, MO

VIEW ALL PROJECTS

Counsilman-Hunsaker was hired in association with Bucher, Willis & Ratliff Corporation to audit 11 outdoor aquatic facilities located in Kansas City, Missouri. After compiling information such as the market area demographics, national and international swimming trends and local construction costs, Counsilman-Hunsaker created an Aquatics Master Plan for the city.

The existing pools were in need of major renovation or replacement for several reasons: the functional conditions were obsolete, appealing amenities were not in place, the designs limited program opportunities and the annual attendance was steadily declining.

Based on the information from the report, the City chose to renovate Swope Park and build a new aquatic center in Tiffany Springs.
