La Joya ISD Sports and Learning Complex

La Joya, TX

In 2015, the City of La Joya retained Counsilman-Hunsaker to perform an operational pro forma analysis for an aquatic center for La Joya. The audit included an opinion of operating expenses with calculations for staff labor, insurance, repairs/maintenance, commodities, and utilities.

Pleased with the results from the study, the La Joya ISD Sports and Learning Complex is the first school-owned waterpark in the state of Texas which houses a natatorium, outdoor waterpark, planetarium, tennis courts, and a homework center for students and visitors. The scale, ingenuity and design of the complex easily rivals like-facilities around the state, which exclusively offers La Joya ISD students opportunities not found anywhere else in our area.

The facility includes an outdoor waterpark with three separate pools and a 22,000 sq. ft. natatorium capable of hosting swimming and diving meets and has approximately 500 seats with ADA accommodations. Features include:

  • 6,150 sq. ft. 25-yard by 25-meter Competition Pool with 10 lap lanes
  • 980 sq. ft. Dive Pool with two 1-meter diving boards

  • 7,700 sq. ft. Leisure Pool with zero beach entry, two stair entries, spray features, spray structure, and two waterslides
  • 4,800 sq. ft. River Pool with lazy river, vortex, underwater bench, various spray features, two stair entries, and raft waterslide
  • 900 sq. ft. Tot Pool with zero beach entry, tot slide, and various spray features.
