Lakeview High School wanted a swimming pool that not only met the competitive needs of the program, but also provided a great place to teach swimming.
With the requirement of keeping water depth under starting blocks to 6'7”, this required a unique solution to provide deep water for competition and shallow water for lesson programming. The end result was a swimming pool that provided stair entry, an underwater bench, as well as a 25-yard competition pool, which includes two 1-meter diving boards, eight competitive lanes and four additional practice lanes.
This facility won a Citation Award for Work in Progress by the American School and University, which was published in the November 2004 Facilities issue.
