The City of Mason, OH, retained MSA architects and Counsilman-Hunsaker to prepare a feasibility study for a 50-meter pool expansion. The indoor competition facility currently featured a 25-yard by 25-meter pool with 750 spectator seats. The current Manta Rays Swim Team, a USA Swimming Silver Medal Club, had 230-260 swimmers with a 100 person waiting list. According to the city, team potential could exceed 500. The team was a large revenue source for the Mason Community Center: swimmers paid annual fees to join the team in addition to community center membership fees. The study proposed three venue concepts with attendance, estimated economic impact, and revenue and expense estimates that were in addition to the existing operating income and expenses.
