Onesty Family Aquatic Center
Charlottesville, VAA 2005 Parks and Needs Assessment determined that the 1975 Onesty Pool in Meade Park was beyond the point of cost-effective repair and in need of replacement. In order to ensure the best use of funding and park land, a planning process began in 2006. In the summer of 2009, the new Meade Park Onesty Pool, designed by Kimley-Horn & Associates and Counsilman-Hunsaker, was revealed to a capacity crowd.
The 7,850 sq. ft. Recreation Pool features:
- Current river
- Zero depth entry
- Themed lily pad walk
- Open-flumed waterslide
- Tee-cup-style spray feature
- Three lane 25-yard lap pool reaching 12 ft. depth
- 1-meter diving
- Themed tot slide
- Underwater seating with therapy jets
