Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center
Chandler, AZThe team of Counsilman-Hunsaker and Garbor Lorant Architects designed a multi-generational two-pool complex for the City of Chandler. The Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center (adjacent to Basha High School) is a joint-use facility with the Chandler Unified School District. In addition to offering year-round swim programs through the city’s aquatic program, the center also provides Basha High School swimmers and divers a practice and competition facility.
The aquatic center includes both leisure and competitive amenities. The innovative design made optimum use of the available space with an array of features including:
- 9,300 sq. ft. Leisure Pool
- Two waterslides
- Lazy river
- Water vortex
- ADA-accessible zero-depth entry
- Children’s interactive play structure
- 480 sq. ft. sprayground
- 7,142 sq. ft. Competition Pool
- 25-yard lap pool with eight lap lanes
The separation of the interactive area from the lap pool is a design feature that enables the family play area to remain open while high school team practices are held in the lap pool.
