The City of Plano selected the team of Counsilman-Hunsaker and Brinkley Sargent to design a high-quality recreation center for the entire community to enjoy.
The project was the culmination of four years of committed design and construction expertise with the ultimate goal of creating the most exciting, entertaining, multi-purpose aquatic experience the city could provide for its residents. The aquatic complex embodies the community's needs and objectives by combining leisure areas and fitness/competitive swimming programming spaces. The family waterpark has something for everyone to enjoy.
In 2017, $6.6 million in renovations were made to the facility by expanding the fitness room, renovating the locker/changing room, adding classroom space, pool equipment upgrades and feature replacement, and improvement of the overall building appearance. Counsilman-Hunsaker completed renovations on the pool mechanical room by selecting new pumps, filters, and a UV system; in addition to replacement of spray features and the indoor waterslide.
In 2018, the City of Plano hosted the North Texas lifeguard competition at Jack Carter Pool and Oak Point Center.
