The City of Edmond selected Counsilman-Hunsaker to provide a variety of aquatic services, including a Facility Audit of the 40-year-old pool for the city's Parks and Recreation Department.
The report suggested the most economical solution was to construct a new pool rather than upgrade the existing facility.
Counsilman-Hunsaker then developed a Feasibility Study to analyze the operational and economic impact that would result in the creation of a new aquatic center. The city approved the construction of a new pool and commissioned Counsilman-Hunsaker in association with Allen Brown Architects to design the new Pelican Bay Aquatic Center.
Aquatic Operations
In 2015, the city retained the team of Counsilman-Hunsaker and Sports Facilities Management to provide Full-Time Management Services for the first five years of operation.
The team provided a marketing plan, discovering untapped community resources, and demonstrated steady growth and profitability year over year. The team utilized aggressive social media and email blast campaigns, targeted Pool Party marketing and advertising, and re-branding the facility to increase attendance numbers and community recognition. Counsilman-Hunsaker’s specific focus was maintenance and safety training training, staff operations, programming and swim lessons, and concessions.
