Counsilman-Hunsaker and Dialog prepared an Aquatic Needs Assessment Report for the City of Prince George, BC, Canada, for its two indoor aquatic centers. The purpose of the study was to understand how these two facilities were performing and how aquatic programming should be delivered to meet the current and future demand of the Prince George community. Counsilman-Hunsaker carried out an existing facility evaluation, needs analysis, concept planning, operations and pro-forma plan. Extensive stakeholder meetings, two open house meetings and on-line surveys were offered to determine the city’s future aquatics needs. The report provided clear short- and long- term direction to the city on the provision of aquatic facilities and was comprehensive in terms of mechanical systems, operations and solidifying the needs of the community. A follow up to that report was a site selection report for the replacement of the Four Seasons Pool. Working with the city staff and local civil and geotechnical engineers, the team helped the city make an informed choice as to the best location for the replacement aquatics facility.
