George F. Haines International Swim Center (Study)

Santa Clara, CA

The City of Santa Clara retained Prodis Associates Architects and Counsilman-Hunsaker to perform a detailed Project Master Plan and Construction Cost Analysis for new swimming pools on the site of the George F. Haines International Swim Center in the Santa Clara. The plan included site planning for five new individual swimming pools including a new 50-meter x 25-meter competition pool with two moveable bulkheads, a new 50-meter x 25-yard training/warm-up pool and new 25-meter x 25-yard dive tank with a 10-meter dive tower with all intermediate platform heights and a 3-meter springboard platform, a divers warm water spa and a 6-lane teaching pool with a large children’s interactive play structure.

The related schematic pool drawings, swimming pool outline specifications, pool mechanical and miscellaneous deck equipment cut sheets, geotechnical soils report, swimming pool structural comments, and site demolition and preparation assumptions were then used to develop a fully detailed and itemized Construction Cost Analysis for the scope of the new swimming pools and related building development.

The building development included a new pool mechanical equipment room, new locker rooms for athletes and spectators, upgrades to pool deck areas, spectator circulation and control, new ADA access ramps and a new point of entry into the facility.
