The City of Murfreesboro is considering its options for the future of aquatics at the Sportscom Recreation and Aquatics Center facility. Counsilman Hunsaker performed a Facility Audit in November 2004 at the Sportscom Recreation and Aquatic Center. The purpose of the audit was to evaluate the existing three bodies of water with an evaluation of their respective mechanical systems, and to provide an opinion of probable cost for items identified. Also provided in the study was an opinion of cost for adding features to the existing pools and cost estimates for adding new bodies of water or zero depth sprayground attractions.
In October 2009, the team of Counsilman-Hunsaker and Johnson & Bailey Architects was retained to design new mechanical and chemical treatment systems for the indoor 25 yard lap pool, remove old tot pool and replaced it with a 600 sq. ft. water sprayground with a variety of different flush mounted sprays; and turn the existing outdoor 50-meter pool into a 14,000 sq. ft. leisure pool.
