The Wai'anae High School Facility Audit focused on proposed improvements to the school's 1972 outdoor 25-yard community swimming pool facility.
The pool facility was closed in 2007 due to a number of water chemistry and mechanical issues, and the lack of ADA access to the elevated pool deck and swimming pool. Several other building items were also evaluated.
The purpose of the audit was to provide recommendations to upgrade the pool and to propose options for sanitization, new pump and filtration equipment, new pool deck surfacing, ADA access lift and recommendations to clean and maintain the pool tile finish.
In addition to providing recommendations, Counsilman Hunsaker also prepared detailed construction cost estimates for the swimming pool improvements and coordinated their efforts with a local engineering team.
Together the design team provided the School District with a comprehensive audit of the entire facility complete with recommendations and estimated construction costs from which to gauge the phasing of the required improvements.
