Wheeling Family Aquatic Center (Study)

Wheeling, IL

VIEW ALL PROJECTS

Wheeling Park District wanted to expand the outdoor Wheeling Family Aquatic Center into a premiere waterpark in the Chicagoland Northwest Suburbs. The district commissioned Counsilman-Hunsaker to develop three thrill ride options, a lazy river option, and a phasing master plan for the 20-year-old facility. The study developed ways to enhance guest experience with the addition of new water amenities and evaluated concession stand functionality. Three options were developed for consideration. The master plan developed phasing in the options that included short-term (1-3 years), mid-term (4-7 years), and long-term (8-10 years) goals.
