In 2017, the City of Bedford retained Kimley Horn & Associates and Counsilman-Hunsaker to provide an assessment of the Bedford Boys Ranch and the Bedford “Splash” Aquatic Center. The park-wide master plan included conceptual design of an indoor, multi-generation recreation facility, and renovation of the “Splash” Aquatic Center. Through several rounds of public meetings, comment periods, and tours of two multigenerational facilities in Grapevine and in North Richland Hills, a final master plan (consisting of three phases) was presented which included a re-design of the “Splash” Aquatic Center, extra baseball fields, tennis courts, picnic areas and a new multipurpose event area/facility, and a multi-generational recreation/senior center with indoor aquatics. In November of 2017, a $70 million bond was passed by the citizens of Bedford to fund the project
