Our team of designers and engineers will analyze the condition of your site, develop schematic designs, and work with you to achieve desired outcomes for your state-of-the-art aquatic facility. Project Programming and Conceptual Development: Kicking off your project with a thorough needs assessment with users, stakeholders, and constituents, we'll identify the defining goals and opportunities set for each project.

Schematic Design: Counsilman-Hunsaker tailor designs that meet the desired outcome. During this phase, we will communicate with the architect to develop probable construction costs and estimate data for the aquatic facility as a whole.

Design Development: After pinpointing any issues the design team may need to resolve, we prepare design drawings for the pool and features. Our LEED accredited professionals will apply sustainable design elements to lower operating costs and improve energy efficiency.

Construction Drawings and Specifications: Final coordination across teams becomes critically important as we present specific details for pool and aquatic facility construction. Our internal quality control process ensures that plans comply with applicable codes and standards.

Pool Contractor Procurement: With construction documents complete, pool contractors bid on the project based on experience, workmanship, aquatic equipment and systems knowledge, and past performance.

Construction Administration: Maintaining project quality at key milestones throughout construction, our professionals conduct on-site visits to monitor progress and submit formal reports. We review any contractor submittals, shop drawings, project information, and requested substitutions.

Project Commissioning and Operational Support: Once construction is complete, Counsilman-Hunsaker continues to offer many levels of support for ongoing operations. Our Aquatic Management Program and full suite of web-based applications help facilities train and lead staff while maintaining standards of excellence.

  • Rolla Health & Recreation Center

      The City of Rolla made a commitment in 1999 to upgrade their community aquatic and recreation programming and selected Counsilman-Hunsaker as the lead aquatic consultant. In 2000, the outdoor swimming pool was renovated into a new leisure pool. In 2001, in conjunction with this project, a new recreation center was developed.

  • Indiana State University – Student Recreation Center

    Open spaces, natural lighting, and bright colors, the new ISU Rec Center encompasses 110,000 sq. ft., making it one of the largest non-academic facilities on campus. Amenities within the structure include a three-court gymnasium, multi-purpose court for indoor soccer and field hockey, and a large aquatic center with a leisure/lap pool and whirlpool spa. In ...

  • Central Spokane YMCA/YWCA

    The new Spokane Central YMCA/YWCA is the first in the nation to combine the benefits of the YMCA and the YWCA into one facility. The two-story 80,000 sq. ft. building includes an aquatic center; a teen center; a music recording studio; and a state-of-the-art gym with full court for basketball, volleyball, and youth sports leagues.

  • Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center

      In 2008, the citizens of Brownwood, Texas, voted and approved a referendum to use $6 million in funding through the Brownwood Economic Development Corporation to bring a new sports complex, aquatic center, and senior citizens center to the community.
