The Wharf is a $2 billion, world-class, mixed-use waterfront community in the District of Columbia’s Southwest Waterfront. One of the most exciting urban waterfront environments in the world, The Wharf features 3.2 million sq. ft. of new residential, office, hotel, and retail space as well as cultural, marina, and public use spaces, such as waterfront parks, promenades, piers, and docks.
The 300,000 sq. ft. building features a dual-branded hotel by Hilton Worldwide and Hyatt Hotels Corporation that anchors the gateway of a three-acre public park. Canopy by Hilton is a 120,000 sq. ft. luxury hotel consisting of 175 rooms, while Hyatt House, a 145,000 sq. ft. extended-stay hotel, has 238 rooms.
These LEED Gold-certified hotels include cafe/bars and other restaurants, a fitness center, meeting room space, a courtyard with outdoor terraces, an outdoor pool, and a rooftop bar with Washington Channel views. The site includes more than 30,000 sq. ft. of street-level retail and two levels of below grade parking.
Counsilman-Hunsaker was retained to design the 570 sq. ft. outdoor terrace pool and the 935 sq. ft. water feature, complete with various spray features and cascades.
