In May 2019, the Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges celebrated the grand opening of the Hardesty Family Adaptive Sports Complex addition. This 28,000 sq. ft., two-story expansion more than doubled the size of the Center, which provides a wide variety of services for persons with physical challenges in three major program areas: rehabilitative services, adaptive recreation, and community reintegration.

New amenities allow the facility to maximize sporting events with a regulation sports court, a resistance therapy pool, accessible rooftop terrace, indoor track, adaptive rock-climbing wall, multipurpose spaces, and outdoor sports and therapy spaces. The addition also affords expanded and enhanced on-site services, including services to physically challenged children and youth.

Additional features to the area include updates to the current green space, an outdoor sports court, a water feature named in memory of well-known Tulsa disability advocate Nate Waters, and a butterfly garden, along with walking/cycling trails with benches and shade sails.

The Center is reportedly the only in the nation that provides services such as fitness, recreation activities, and community integration to the disabled community.
