The Gordon-Van Tine Company Historic District, also known as the U.N. Roberts and Company Buildings, is a nationally recognized historic district located east of downtown Davenport, Iowa.
Renovations began in 2000 for the biggest and most expensive apartment renovation in downtown Davenport. The $35 million project consisted of renovating two buildings to transform them into an apartment complex – a four-story brick office building and a five-story brick building that had been a factory. The office building now houses 15 apartments and the factory houses 98 apartments.
To help ease the cost of the project, about $7.2 million was provided by state historic preservation tax credits, $5.5 million from federal historic preservation tax credits, and $1 million by workforce housing tax credits.
