The City of Wylie, Texas commissioned Dunaway Architects and Counsilman-Hunsaker to perform a feasibility study to explore an indoor and outdoor aquatics complex for the city that is located 30 miles northeast of downtown Dallas. While the city and surrounding suburbs have seen significant population growth over the past five years, there is a lack of municipal aquatic offerings. The study looked at two different options for the City of Wylie focusing on a combined indoor outdoor aquatic center. After the consultant team received direction from City Council, a separate indoor aquatic center and outdoor waterpark option were developed that ranged in cost from $13 million to $16 million. Operational costs, types of program and revenue opportunities were also projected as a part of the study.
