Stephen F. Austin High School
An audit was performed on the aging high school facility to determine substandard items in the four-lane, 25-yard lap pool and the associated mechanical systems and support spaces. Current systems were evaluated against the Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) and compared with the other existing natatoriums around Houston ISD. In addition, an opinion of the probable construction cost for long-term and short-term solutions was provided for recommended repairs which will bring the pool up to current industry swimming pool design standards.
This audit was provided with support from Rice & Gardner Consultants Incorporated. Completed in February 2021
Practice Pools
Design of practice pools at three facilities: Milby High School, Yates High School, and Washington High School.
The new natatorium buildings feature a significant garage-style overhead with coiling doors that allow fresh air inside. The four-lane, 25-yard practice pools were identically designed at all three facilities.
