In 2019, the City of Red Deer commissioned GEC Architects and Counsilman-Hunsaker to provide a business case for the proposed design options of a 50-meter pool and a 25-meter pool. Counsilman-Hunsaker was contracted to develop several scenarios that could meet the aquatic needs in Red Deer and develop annual operational expenses and revenue projections to understand the long-term impact. The goal of the study was to provide the leadership of Red Deer with the information they need to make an informed decision about moving forward with the construction and operation of a new indoor aquatic facility that will service the recreational, instructional, fitness, and competitive aquatic needs of its residents.
