Since its original construction in 1947, the Holmes Aquatic Center at Curtis Park has been a cherished facility for University Park, TX. Over the years, the center has undergone multiple renovations and expansions. In 2023, Counsilman-Hunsaker was commissioned to comprehensively assess the mechanical systems supporting the 50-meter competition pool. This evaluation aimed to identify equipment in need of replacement as part of an upcoming renovation of the mechanical building and community center. Counsilman-Hunsaker highlighted critical components such as pump impellers, steel filter tanks, and the low-pressure UV system, noting that they have exceeded their functional lifespan.
Armed with this detailed report, the city now possesses the essential knowledge to initiate the design and renovation of the new community center and mechanical building. This strategic approach ensures the continued longevity and optimal performance of the Holmes Aquatic Center.
