In January 2022, the City of Adrian engaged the services of Counsilman-Hunsaker and Mannik Smith Group to conduct a comprehensive aquatic facility audit and study focused on Bohn Pool. The primary objective of this undertaking was to assess the current state of the facility, pool conditions, and systems in alignment with prevailing building codes and regulations.
This thorough audit report was formulated through a multifaceted approach, incorporating on-site discussions with personnel, meticulous visual inspections during the site visit, examination of existing pool plans, and informed assumptions derived from industry best practices. Having served the community for over 51 years, the City of Adrian Bohn Pool has experienced substantial utilization. Given its age, the audit identified numerous areas necessitating renovations or updates to ensure the continued operational viability of the pool. The projected cost for these essential repairs was estimated at $2.07 million.
In addition to the audit, a comprehensive needs assessment and community survey were conducted to ascertain the residents' requirements and preferences. The final recommendations encompass three distinct options for new facilities. They proposed relocating the pool to an alternative site within the park, a decision prompted by considerations of flood risks. The meticulous study and resulting recommendations collectively addressed the community's evolving needs while ensuring the aquatic facilities' long-term sustainability and safety.
