The American Red Cross LGI/T review course is required for all instructors (LGIs) and instructor trainers (LGITs) as part of the recertification process. The course includes a review of administrative information and a land and water skill review session.
Optional base-level lifeguard test out available. Choose the option with the base during registration to complete your lifeguard certificate testing in the same session.
Prerequisite:

Complete the online session of the Lifeguarding Instructor course before the precourse session. (approx. 2 hours)

Must possess a current (or up to one (1) year expired) American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor/Trainer certification.

Instructors must have taught or co-taught a full or review core course within the last two (2) years. Instructor Trainers must have taught or co-taught at least one (1) Lifeguarding Instructor course or teach or co-teach at least two (2) Lifeguarding Instructor/Instructor Trainer Review courses of record during your 2-year certification period.

Complete the prerequisite skill assessment scenario to continue in the course.
Participants are required to bring:

Lifeguarding Instructor’s Deck Book (optional)

Hip Pack & Whistle

Resuscitation Mask

Separate adult and infant rescue masks; or

Seal Easy Mask
To Obtain Certification:
-
Attend all class sessions (no exceptions)
-
Demonstrate instructor-level skill competency in all skills.

Pass written exam with at least an 80%- One Opportunity
Successful lifeguard course participants will receive a two (2) year Lifeguarding Instructor/Instructor Trainer certification renewed on the date of the course.
Base Level Testing Requirements (Optional)

Complete Lifeguarding Instructor skill practice and polish session by demonstrating proficiency in all skills.

Complete Lifeguarding Prerequisite skills.

Pass the final written exam(s) with a minimum grade of 80 percent.

Pass the three (3) final skill assessments.
Participants who complete the base level will be issued the following American Red Cross certificate: Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid, valid for two (2) years.
