FINA and Counsilman-Hunsaker announce partnership

Industry-leading aquatic facility design and operations company, Counsilman-Hunsaker, and FINA are proud to announce a new consultancy partnership that will support facility design for World Championships, Olympics, and other major events.

Founded in 1970 by swimming pioneers James “Doc” Counsilman and Joe Hunsaker, Counsilman-Hunsaker will provide FINA and its Member Federations with innovative design and facility operations solutions to develop state-of-the-art, sustainable aquatic facilities alongside review and counsel of facility and space plans for their events.

The partnership, which runs through 2025, will see Counsilman-Hunsaker assist FINA in their role of supporting the development of world championship and Olympic venues as well as providing on-site support and facility evaluations for these events. In addition, Counsilman-Hunsaker will support FINA technical committees in the development and ongoing review of aquatic sport requirements.

“We are very much looking forward to working with FINA and the international aquatic sport community to provide a better aquatics experience for people worldwide. We are also excited to bring more than 50 years’ experience in developing state-of-the-art, high-efficiency, and sustainable aquatic facilities, from elite competition to community recreation. By serving in this role, we are committed to our mission of creating aquatic experiences that transform people and communities,” said Counsilman-Hunsaker President, Scott Hester.

This new partnership with FINA propels Counsilman-Hunsaker to the world aquatic sport stage. Said Hester, “We feel this role in supporting FINA was a natural fit for Counsilman-Hunsaker that works in tandem with our partnership as the ‘Official Supplier of Aquatic Facility Consulting’ for USA Swimming since 2014.”

“We are delighted to partner with Counsilman-Hunsaker for the benefit of FINA’s Member Federations and the entire aquatics family. By partnering with Counsilman-Hunsaker we have an opportunity to transform aquatic venues around the world and ensure that athletes of all ages and abilities have access to the safe, sustainable and world-class facilities they deserve,” said FINA Executive Director Brent Nowicki.
