Florida Makes Numerous Changes To Swimming Pool Health Code

On April 27, 2012, Governor Rick Scott signed into law numerous changes to the responsibilities of the Florida Department of Health. The biggest change provides for sanitation and safety standard regulation pertaining to water quality to be the department’s main responsibility, while local enforcement districts may determine compliance with the construction standards. This change seems to indicate that plans for new public swimming pools will no longer go to the county health departments but go the municipality from who will issue the local building permit.
