Accelerated growth in the Greater Houston area is continuing to spur the need for increased facility capacity in districts such as Alvin ISD, which is one of the fastest growing school districts in the Houston area with more than 23,000 students enrolled.
To meet demand and continue the mission of providing quality educational opportunities for students, Alvin ISD voters approved two bonds for improvements within the district: a $212M bond in 2013 and a $245M bond in 2015. The bond packages included the addition of a new high school campus, two new natatoriums, a new athletic stadium, new elementary schools, a new agriculture facility, a new transportation center, and expansions and renovations to several junior high schools.
Through bond funding development, Counsilman-Hunsaker has designed three separate swimming pool facilities on three individual campuses for Alvin ISD. Each facility consists of an indoor 8-lane 25-yard competition pool to support swimming, diving, and water polo programming. Features of each facility include:
20,000 sq. ft. Natatorium
- 4,580 sq. ft. Competition Pool
- Eight 25-yard lap lanes
- Two 1-meter diving boards
