The iconic Forest Park Pool re-opened in the summer of 2024 after a transformative $15 million renovation. This historic pool has long been a cherished community landmark, initially constructed in 1922 and located off Forest Park Boulevard behind the Fort Worth Zoo. Previous renovations in 1969, the 1990s, and 2010-2013 were insufficient to address persistent structural issues, leading to its closure in May 2023. The latest renovation, funded by a 2022 voter-approved bond program, marks the most significant overhaul in the pool’s history which now expands to 85,000 sq. ft.
The revitalized Forest Park Pool now boasts a state-of-the-art Olympic-sized pool with eight 50-meter lanes, a 4,550-square-foot leisure pool, a new bathhouse, and an array of playful features, including a water playground and slide. Modern equipment has upgraded the facility, including new chemical and mechanical rooms, chemical controls, UV sanitation units, filters, pumps, and plumbing.
At full capacity, the facility can accommodate 351 swimmers. This renovation preserves the pool's historical essence and enhances its amenities to meet contemporary standards, ensuring it remains a beloved community asset for years to come.
