Counsilman-Hunsaker was retained to study the aquatic programming needs and develop conceptual designs and an operational business plan for Yuma Aquatics at Kennedy Pool in Yuma, AZ. Their goal was to plan a 50-meter competition pool in Yuma that can host high-level meets, increased capacity for 25-yard lanes, and encourage instructional, wellness and recreational aquatic activities on a year-round basis for the City of Yuma. Consideration was also made for a partnership with the local military base where they could conduct trainings in the deep end of the competition pool or in a separate dive tank.
Counsilman-Hunsaker developed numerous options that included a renovation of the existing Kennedy Pool along with several replacement options, including a 50-meter x 25-yard competition pool, a stretch 50-meter x 25-yard competition pool, and options for a shallow, warm-water programming pool.
