Apex Park and Recreation District commissioned Counsilman-Hunsaker to conduct an evaluation of the Lake Arbor Swimming Pool. The pool is primarily used for recreational swimming and features a toddler slide, six 25-yard lap lanes, and a dive well with a retrofitted slide.
During the evaluation, the pool's shell was found to be in fair condition with the exception of aging plaster and some cracking at one of the corners that could potentially be structural in nature. Additionally, the pool's mechanical equipment was found to be showing its age and not meeting current Code Standards.
The evaluation report identified several major findings and provided recommendations for extending the life of the facility, including a complete replacement of pool piping, a complete removal of the existing plaster finish and replacement; and upgrades to the pool, mechanical spaces, and safety-related items.
The report recommended that Apex Park and Recreation District assess the long-term goals of the facility and properly plan for the future of aquatics offerings at Lake Arbor Swimming Pool, as the pool is reaching the end of its useful life.
