In August 2017, the City of Galveston celebrated the grand opening of Galveston’s first community swimming pool. A historic moment for the city, the $4.1 million project provides its residents with a state-of-the-art facility, which includes a recreational pool with a kid-friendly play structure and a body slide, as well as an eight-lane short course pool for fitness, wellness, and competition swimming.

This new addition to the Galveston Parks System will give the city the ability to offer aquatic fitness classes and swimming lessons and will also provide the opportunity to offer safety courses, such as first aid, CPR, and lifeguard training.

Aquatic amenities include:

4,500 sq. ft. Lap Pool

  • Eight 25-yard lap lanes w/ starting platforms
  • Stair entry
  • Water volleyball
  • Water basketball

4,500 sq. ft. Leisure Pool

  • Zero-depth entry
  • Stair entry
  • Waterslide
  • Tot slide
  • Play structure & various spray features

Funding for the project was provided by the Industrial Development Corporation, Better Parks for Galveston, a grant from Texas Parks & Wildlife, the Neighborhood Revitalization Fund, and numerous foundation grants and private donations.
