The Huntsville Aquatics Center, a premier 90,000-square-foot facility, features three expansive pools: the Competition Pool, the Legacy Pool, and the Instructional Pool. It is the only facility in the Southeast with two 50-meter competition pools under the same roof, making it a prime location for hosting championship-level swim meets. The Competition Pool boasts spectator seating for over 1,400 fans and 500 seats for competitors on the deck, while the Instructional Pool supports swim lessons and aquatic therapy.
Additional amenities include restrooms, locker rooms, conference and hospitality spaces, offices, concession areas, 264 parking spaces, and a terrace overlooking the Brahan Spring Park lagoon. With its state-of-the-art features, the facility accommodates a variety of aquatic activities, such as lap swimming, group exercise classes, water polo, and major swim events, solidifying its reputation as a top-tier venue for both local and national competitions.
In May 2023, the Huntsville City Council approved a $6.4 million contract for extensive renovations to the Legacy Pool, initially known as the Brahan Spring Natatorium. The upgrades include new bleachers, an updated exhaust system, LED lighting, and replacements for windows, walls, and roof panels. Additional improvements include refinishing the pool's plaster, updating the deck anchors, replacing pool ladders, adding lifeguard chairs, adding a 3-meter diving stand, modernizing the recirculation and timing systems, and elevating the facility’s functionality and aesthetic appeal.
