McClure Pool

Tulsa, OK

In 2009, the City of Tulsa commissioned Counsilman-Hunsaker to audit their portfolio of five existing swimming pools, including indoor support spaces. The report assisted in identifying items that were substandard, including items that were not to current department of health requirements or not operating as designed. In addition, an opinion of probable cost for recommended repairs and replacements was provided to bring the pools up to current department of health requirements. The construction costs reflected pool repairs in which the pool shapes and size remained the same. The report was based on staff interviews, information provided by the city, and onsite visual inspections of the five City of Tulsa outdoor aquatic facilities. Pleased with the findings from the report, the city decided to proceed with a capital improvements package to replace the swimming pools at McClure, Reed and Lacy parks.

In 2018, Counsilman-Hunsaker completed renovations on McClure Pool that included the replacement of an existing pool house building and pool and the renovation of the plunge pool. The new building houses locker rooms, check-in area, offices, snack bar, and pool equipment rooms.

The new pool consists of a 9,600 sq. ft. multi-use pool with zero-depth entry, ADA-compliant ramp entry, stair entry with ADA-compliant railing, children’s play features, underwater shelf, volleyball net, and a 50-meter six lane lap pool complete with starting blocks and a climbing wall.

Renovations of the 826 sq. ft. plunge pool included a new flume slide, new main drain grates, new recirculation supply and suction pipes, new skimmers, and new pool finishes.
