In 2020, Helix Design Group and the Quinault Indian National retained Counsilman-Hunsaker to explore the feasibility of developing aquatic facilities for the tribal community and its visitors.
The study was initiated by the Nation's requirement to relocate some of its resources to higher ground due to the rising water levels caused by global warming. The analysis involved a thorough examination of the site, market demand, design and construction costs, and operational expenses. The study provided the Quinault Indian Nation with an objective and comprehensive evaluation of the project's viability.
The final report presented four different design alternatives, with all but one incorporating an aquatics component. The Nation prioritized recreation, fitness and instruction, and wellness as the primary needs that influenced the design alternatives.
