Counsilman-Hunsaker was commissioned on behalf of the Anna Parks and Recreation Department to conduct an audit of the Slayter Creek Splash Pad.
The condition of the water features, splash pad floor slab, mechanical systems and enclosure, and balance tank were assessed.
Counsilman-Hunsaker provided an audit report with two types of recommendations: primary items required to bring the splash pad up to current facility codes and secondary recommendations intended to help the facility meet industry design standards. Counsilman-Hunsaker attended meetings with the Anna Parks and Recreation board and City Council to review the recommendations outlined in the report.
Ultimately, the city decided to demolish the existing facility and construct a new splash pad. Counsilman-Hunsaker is working through the design of this new facility with construction scheduled to be completed in summer 2023.
