The original Summit Waves Aquatic Center opened in 2008 and has provided over a decade of aquatic recreation and leisure activity to the residents of Lee’s Summit and the surrounding area. The original construction included a 900 ft. action river, lap pool, elevated waterslides with a plunge pool, children’s zero depth water play area, and a restroom/concession building. Through proactive planning and budgeting, Lee’s Summit Parks & Recreation had a goal to expand the aquatic center program and capacity through addition of a wave pool feature.
