Accommodating the multiple needs of a nationally ranked NCAA Division I Football team in the 21st Century, the Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall building, designed for the University of Georgia (UGA) athletes, completed a massive expansion, and created the new home of the football program.
The 165,000 sq. ft. building houses the players' headquarters, including the locker room, 12,000 sq ft strength and conditioning area, the sports medicine training room, and meeting rooms. In addition, it includes an 18,000 sq. ft. football coaches' offices and meeting rooms, historical displays for all UGA athletic teams, 12,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose indoor practice area with direct access to two new outdoor practice fields, and the administrative offices of the Athletic Association.
The sports medicine and rehabilitation area include hydrotherapy and near-zero gravity therapy equipment designed to help soothe players' muscles before and after football practice or games.
