Counsilman-Hunsaker was authorized by the City of Middleton to provide a swimming pool audit in July 2017 on the Walter R. Bauman Aquatic Center. The aquatic center was originally built in the 1960s and received a substantial renovation and new construction in 1998 with more modern family aquatic center amenities.
Counsilman-Hunsaker was commissioned to conduct the audit to assist in identifying items that are substandard or not operating as designed, as well as offering insight to help the city consider various options for the future of the aquatic center. The goal of the study was to determine the useful life expectancy of the aquatic center and exploration of an outdoor, 50-meter by 25-yard competition pool on the site of the existing aquatic center. To assist in defining a course of action regarding the future of the facility, an opinion of probable construction cost was provided for recommended repairs for short-term and long-term use.
