The Brockway Recreation Revitalization Committee contracted Counsilman-Hunsaker to develop a feasibility study to upgrade the existing Brockway Pool. The study was based on extensive research to analyze needs and determine objectives through a needs assessment, facility program, and space requirements operations and business plan.
Due to the age of the pool, it is physically and functionally obsolescent; and the cost of the family membership is too high compared to area pools. Updated amenities would bring citizens to the park and pool. The major opportunity is an updated facility which would create a recreational destination like no other in the area.
Counsilman-Hunsaker presented two concepts for consideration. Each included construction costs, project cost, revenue and expense summary, and percentage of cost recovery. Concept A included an outdoor 6,700 sq. ft. leisure pool and a 1,200 sq. ft. and spray-pad. Concept B included an outdoor 6,700 sq. ft. leisure pool with a four lane, 25-yard lap pool and 1,200 sq. ft. spray-pad.
