Counsilman-Hunsaker was contracted by Louisville Metro Parks to study concepts for a multi-generational, indoor community and competitive aquatic center. The study addressed a needs assessment, program requirements, capital costs, and financial performance.
Three aquatic center options were explored that all included a base 50-meter by 25-yard competition pool with various shallow pool options for programming, recreation and wellness purposes, as well as a diving pool addition with platforms on option 3. All options aimed to meet the aquatic needs of the community and to host regional, statewide, and national competitive swimming events.
Counsilman-Hunsaker developed capital and operational costs for each option that included various revenue streams to help the facility achieve the desired cost recovery rate.
